    Bedford is the county town of Bedfordshire and has a larger population than some other towns that are already on the weather map.

    Chirbury School is celebrating two key successes over the last few weeks:

    1. The School passes its latest OFSTED inspection with flying colours achieving 'good' status in all five categories. It was one of the few Schools in the region to pass with these grades under OFSTED's new tougher assessment regime.

    Heather says: I have been working on this huge issue since about 2007 as District Councillor for Chirbury and Marton. In 2009 I was elected as the Councillor for Worthen with Shelve as well and broadened the fight. It's been a long hard struggle to get anyone to sit up and take notice about this huge issue which blights village life and makes visiting the shop, the school or the pub or even crossing a road a difficult thing. What has been achieved and markers?

    The SpArC theatre had a great year in 2019. They had many sold out performances. Events included live theatre, films such as Bohemian Rhapsody, many events with other community groups.

    They have also collaborated with the Theatre Trust on fundraising events with our now annual fund-raising film night this year 'Swimming with Men' and Christmas Bingo, both of which were brilliant fun and raised over £2500 for Sparc!

    The brand new building at Norbury School was ready for Stiperstones school children when they moved on site this January and for the Norbury children. Lib Dem Councillor for Bishop's Castle Division, Ruth Houghton, said: "The Community has been fundraising for many years to achieve this goal and education money topped this up. We now have a superb new building with will house nursery classes for children from both Norbury and Stiperstones Schools - both schools now being educated on the Norbury site.

    Shropshire Councillor, Heather Kidd arranged and site visit with Land Drainage officers, Bridges and the Parish Council on 10th January. Officers will now be doing work to find whose responsibility the brook is as it is unregistered at the land Registry. They will be keen to work with the Parish Council and local residents to make sure that the brook remains clear and reduces the chances of flooding properties in the future.

    One of the things that has bothered me for a number of years, and I know it bothers many local residents too is the absence of Bedford on the television weather maps.

    Toward the end of last year, I contacted both BBC Look East and ITV Anglia asking them to look at putting Bedford on their maps.

    ITV Anglia have now done so, as you can see in the photograph, in their 'West' region that covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes.
