Mayor Dave Hodgson at the handover of Springfield's new all-electric vanBedford-based Springfield Business Supplies has just taken delivery of an all-electric delivery van after winning a national competition to promote eco-friendly office products.

Springfield had to achieve targets set by the sponsors of the competition run by Office Friendly to win the Nissan Evo by encouraging its customers to switch to sustainable business products.

Mayor Dave Hodgson and the sponsors were all invited to a reception at Springfield's headquarters in Bedford to see the handover of the van.

Jason Stephen, director of Springfield said: "We have been working hard to reduce our own carbon emissions over the last ten years, and are now working with our customers to help them implement their own carbon reduction programmes. The new van helps us to raise the awareness about what we can all do to play our part in working sustainably. Bedford has been working hard to install more electric charging points around the town, and this only helps to encourage people to consider an electric or hybrid vehicle."

Springfield's usual livery has been changed to reflect the green credentials of the van. The vehicle has a range of 200 miles and will allow the company to deliver everyday office essentials such as paper, ink cartridges and office furniture to customers who are based in Bedford, and in the surrounding areas.
