Cumbrian MP Tim Farron has nominated local farmer James Robinson for the Westmorland and Lonsdale's Community Farming Hero Award.

James, a dairy farmer at Strickley Farm in Old Hutton near Kendal, has been praised for his work on farming sustainability and caring for wildlife and biodiversity on the farm, which has been in the family for five generations.

The award has been created by the NFU who are encouraging all MPs to recognise a farmer in their constituency who go above and beyond for their community.

Tim met with James today to present him with his nomination certificate and to hear more about the good work done on Strickley Farm.

Tim said: "I'm proud to have nominated James Robinson from Strickley Farm in Old Hutton as my Community Farming Hero.

"James is a leader and innovator in environmentally sustainable food production, and is also a strong campaigner for mental health support for farmers."

James said: "It is a real honour to be chosen by our local MP Tim Farron as his Community Farming Hero.

"Our farmed landscape is full of heroes and I am very proud to be farming among them."
